It will be obvious to Your Lordship that it was very desirable that I should make a personal inspection of the coast round the Island to judge of the nature and utility of the outposts, and to perform the service necessary efficiently, it became necessary that the officers before named should accompany me.
This is all the information that I can afford Your Lordship on the subject, the rates paid to Commanders of Her Majesty's ships while engaged on services of this description, being settled by the Admiralty Regulations.
